Liza was mated to Luke Schneider’s multi –titled young male, Tully, Ch Calanais Cool AS Ice ADX JDX GD SPD SDX ET four our fifth litter.

Tully was one of those dogs that Nadia just lucked upon while spending hours dog hunting on the internet. As he came from Adelaide it took a lot of long distance phone calls and a wonderful DVD of him before Nadia was able to put her “Princess” on the plane for the long flight to stay with Luke and his family at Calanais BCs. And, it then took quite a few stressed out phone calls before the very reluctant Liza (who’d have thought she would be a prude) was mated.

Liza produced five black and white babies (3 girls and 2 boys) all of whom managed to have a lot more white than their darker, than dark mum. One little bundle of love (Mia) only tipped the scales at 200 grams, and it was a schrewd Tiffany Wheatley (Danari BCs) who told us to start her on a tube instantly to supplement her feeding. This must have done the trick because Mia certainly went on to be the bossy puppy in the litter and by 4 weeks she had totally caught up on her siblings.

Being a school holiday litter, our son Jack loved every minute of this litter, and spent his days telling us every move the pups made. As with the last litter, Jack had his favourites, and gave the pups “whelping box names” of the students in his class (much to their amusement when they came over for a look!)

The litter were all given names that included their dad’s “Cool” name and fitted in with our “C” names and their future pet names; all apart from Lola, whose name was just one of those ones that Nadia had to have. With a mum whose show and pet name comes from Liza Minelli and her famous musical “Cabaret”, Lola just had to be a show-girl and therefore her name Copacabana (the opposite of cool…being “the hottest spot north of Havana”).

With three lovely ladies to choose from, it was certainly not an easy decision, and somehow after a lot of conning (from Nadia) two girls managed to stay with us at Classicyds. Lola, Classicyds Copacabana AI and Mia, Classicyds Cool To Be Mi AI. The other girl, Myka, Classicyds Cool Myka AI went to live in Brisbane, Classicyds Cool Assassin AI known as Ninja went to a wonderful agility home to join another BC, Jedi, and now Ninja has his own website featuring his tricks http://ninjasuperdog.blogspot.com Classicyds Coolabah Tree AI, Swaggie has found his home with an obedience and fitness family.

Both Lola and Mia have commenced their show careers, and Swaggie also has been shown, placing 2nd at the BCC of NSW Championship Show in Baby Dog.

We wish to thank Luke Schneider and his mother, Dianne of Calanais BCs for the great way in which they looked after Liza and supported us throughout the whole mating to whelping process. It’s hoped that these pups will lay the foundations for many future generations of Classicyds pups.
